Registered Occupational Therapist

Melanie is currently a consultant occupational therapist in private practice.  In this capacity she performs medical-legal assessments for functional capacity testing and cost of future care, case management services for return to work planning, resumption of daily living skills, assessment of work readiness, and develops treatment plans for clients with post-concussion, chronic pain, physical injury and mental health symptoms.  Melanie has been accepted as an expert witness in the Supreme Court of British Columbia for the purposes of functional capacity evaluation, cost of care analysis and occupational therapy. 

Melanie has worked primarily in private practice as an occupational therapist in the Okanagan and Lower Mainland.   She has experience working with insurance companies, WorkSafe BC and Veteran Affairs to assist clients with returning to activities including ADL’s, work and independent living.  She has experience developing and coordinating return to work plans, job site assessments, treatment planning for post-concussion, chronic conditions and mental health.  Her work experience includes practicing at Kelowna General Hospital in the Rehabilitation Department and early discharge planning.  This provided experience assessing and treating geriatrics and complex injuries and involved physical, functional and safety assessments, development of treatment programs to facilitate independent living, equipment prescription, and coordination with family and team members. 

Melanie enjoys living in Kelowna and the active lifestyle in the Okanagan.  She spends her time with her family, friends and dogs exploring local mountains and travelling.
